good for my desk but not for travel or stage – it is just a little wisp of a thing, so lightweight that i got the package and thought they forgot to put it in. it works okay for a place where it won’t get knocked over, in a house with no cats or children. because it feels kind of unsubstantial, i am actually putting my violin in sideways so i don’t have to worry about it falling over.

Buy!! – You guys!!! You need this in your life. I recently traveled to Brazil to play in an orchestra there, and this little gadget came along with me. It’s sturdy, easy to use, fits in your purse or suitcase and it’s a heaven sent.

Parts loosen over time – This stand worked great when it was new, and I loved that it folded up so small that I could tuck it into the side of my fiddle case. It is surprisingly stable; you have to give the fiddle a good shove to knock it over. Unfortunately, over time the parts have gotten loose so now it opens too wide, and the fiddle can slip out. I have it jerry-rigged to keep it from opening so far, but it continues to loosen, so I will be replacing it with something a little nicer.

Okay, but not the sturdiest stand. – I liked the portability of this stand, but it seems that the smallest bump could topple it over. If you have cats or other pets, this stand is not to be trusted with your violin. We’ll keep looking for a sturdier stand.
