STYLOPHONE – Putting ” your toe in the water” of synthersizers can be quite a confusing experience . Having bought 5 Teenage Engineering PO synths and the Arturo’s Microbute , I bought this one more on impulse than recommendations or reviews .

    2. J. C (verified owner)

Highly moddable – Other than being entirely analog and having multiple effect knobs to tune, this model is also extremely moddable. The pcb has an abundance of labeled solder pads which make it easy to hook into the circuit. I would recommend this for anyone interested in analog synths and electronics.

Fun little synthesizer – I’ve been a fan of the original Stylophone for a number of years, and I was excited to see a more serious instrument when this synth came out. I say “synth” because the added features like the filter, envelope, and LFO make this much more like a synthesizer than the original, which I considered much more akin to a solid state organ.

Is it a toy or a real musical instrument? It’s both! – I love Stylophones — the original analog versions from decades ago and the recent digital remakes. They are silly toys and legitimate musical instruments at the same time. They can be played by a 6-year-old child or a pop music icon like David Bowie. They are kind of nerdy, goofy, imprecise and awkward. And they always put a smile on my face when I play them.

    5. G. L (verified owner)

This is dope! – It offers a lot of features for what it is. It sometimes messes up when you turn certain knob while playing a note. You can also blow out the speaker with the feedback and delay features if you’re not careful. This is a really good little instrument for the money and size.

You need this. – This thing, with it’s ORIGINAL DESIGN approach IS SO “THIC” and “FAT”. I always wanted to achieve that ripping bass tone that is on songs like the first track on the “Doggy Style” album. That tone that’s FAT but sounds like ripping cloth kinda of? I tried A LOT (not as much as I could’ve NOWADAYS) to achieve that bass tone, knowing nothing about synths or MIDI. Fast forward 20+ years later from trying to figure out that tone with the equipment I acquired throughout the years and my Ibanez SG 5 string which I sadly sold.. (I more then made up for it in pedals … WH-1, Theremae, Boss Tone, Fuzz Factory RAW, Misty cave (One of my FAVORITES!!). But this MUSICAL TOOL allows me to make a sample of a tone I was after for decades and loop/manipulate it! And can get those INSANE HIGHS! Like the second(?) track of BTnH 1st album mahor label album. This is a gangsta rap MUST HAVE. A must have with utility! You CAN get away with the basic version and be fine. The delay and filter on the X-1 is too fun to pass up. Along with an envelope? *This TOOL was the ACTUAL INSPIRATION behind “DRE DAY (AND EVRRBODY CELEBRATIN’).* I had to have it! LEGENDARY! Day 1 is always a “Why did I buy this” day 3 you’ll start hitting stuff. BY the end or middle of week 2 you’ll be carrying it around with you to rap The Chronic with your friends! Very cable tool to make bass and melody lines with in ANY DAW.
