Had to replace the head – I purchased these bongos as a Xmas present for my very musical three-year old. When I got them, I noticed that the head on the larger bongo seemed loose and had a wavy appearance. The sound was a little off as well. However, the small bongo looked and sounded great. Since this was just a first, fun instrument for a young child, I decided that it probably didn’t much matter in the grande scheme of things.

Cool – Small defects on the top of the drum, but otherwise really sturdy! Got it for my two year old niecethat means A LOT. It seems like it could take quite the beating. EDIT a couple of months later it was destroyed by a toy broom being driven into the center, this isn’t really meant for destructive 2 year olds hahs

Let’s be reasonable – I bought these bongos because my wife plays an African drum and our toddler thinks it is awesome. To try and bring the family together, I thought it would be fun to get our daughter some bongos to play along. For a few dollars more,there are some more professional grade looking bongos available. However, I didn’t want non-baby safe hardware attached to the exterior. I just wanted a cheap set of bongos for my kid to give a good smack.

Perfect for a 2 year old drummer! – My 2 year old daughter LOVES music, especially the drums. I wanted to wait a while before reviewing to see how durable these bongos are and I have to admit that they have surpassed my expectations. For the price I thought she’d get to play with them for a couple months and they’d break, but these little drums have withstood relentless beating with plastic drum sticks for 2 months without a sign of wear.

Not a quality item, but my daughter won’t care – I bought this drum for my daughter- she has recently become interested in “thumping” noises so this seemed like it could be a good fit for her. As other reviews have stated, the top of the drum is not stretched tight across and there are dips and lumps, which is disappointing but ultimately won’t really matter to my daughter. Would I buy it again? No. But we have it and hopefully she will still enjoy it- she is almost 5 but has global developmental delays, so it can be hard to find things she is willing to interact with.
