Not precut for Jazz bass – They could have cut these to actually fit a Fender jazz bass…too wide, and too tall.

  2. R. A (verified owner)

Fit my jazz bass nicely little to no need to sand – Fit my jazz bass nicely little to no need to sand

Original Fender Part Works Perfectly – Just what I Needed. After changing the strings on my jazz bass, the nut broke. I popped this in and now it’s as good as new. Really convenient to know that the original Fender part will fit without any problems.

Nice nut. – They do a great job of notching the nut requiring little extra filing. Works great.

more for the way I like the action – Wish it were Bone, and not Micarta (synethetic), but they do send you 2.

Works great – It’s works well if you install it correctly. If you’re replacing the nut on a fretless, like I did, you will need to sand down the bottom to almost half the nut’s height. Use the fretboard as a radius block and it should work. Thankfully they give you an extra if you mess up.

Perfect measurements, filed the nut slots myself, and now I have a bass that feels better, plays better, and stays in tune! – String spacing was spot on (just needed to deepen the slots, which you will have to do with any nut, because if it comes too low you’re screwed so they’re made to come high so you can file them down with a nut file (or use the exact string that’s going into the particular slot you’re filing, wrap some 400-grit sandpaper around it, file, check it very frequently to see where the action is at the first fret, repeat until you’re happy with the action on each string, then I went through the slots with some very fine 3000 grit sandpaper to make everything as smooth as possible, blew out all the dust from sanding, wiped off and oiled the fretboard so it looked nice again (the dust from sanding will seep into rosewood so oiling it makes it look great again, just use linseed oil, NEVER lemon oil on a fretboard) then after the sanding was all done I put some nut lube (available cheap here on amazon, or you can make your own with finely ground graphite, like from a #2 pencil, and a little vaseline to make it stay.) Lubrication at the nut as well as proper sanding technique will make sure the strings can move freely through the nut slots, making sure you stay in tune and can tune with finer accuracy, as well as helping the instrument keep it’s intonation and feel good when playing. Very important! Also, if you file your own nut slots, make sure you file at an angle slanting down from the fretboard towards the tuners, the same angle the string will follow when it’s strung up and tuned up to pitch, see youtube videos on filing a nut for more info, but that’s also very important cause if you file flat you’ll have buzzing, tuning instability, and it won’t feel right. On a side note, when you have nut lube, put some on the bridge saddles where the strings touch, and some under the little string trees by the tuners which hold the strings down low, any point of contact with a string should be lubed for maximum tuning stability.
