Excellent book to build chord vocabulary and chord progression fluency – Final update: after 6 months of working through this book I can say it have improved my playing a lot especially when used in conjunction with Guitar Aerobics and Fretboard Freedom.

– Really cool if you’ve got the time to stick with it each day. Provides a nice structure that teaches a range of things.

Good but very repetetive – No book is perfect but this one has some issues that have me on the fence.

Fantastic! – I highly recommend this book. Excellent. Will improve your rhythm chops! And if you improve rhythm chops, lead chops follow! Especially if you move exercises into different musical keys. Great voice leading training as well!

Worthwhile – This book helped me to go from a beginner level rhythm guitarist to an intermediate one. I write and record my own music and I can hear the difference in my playing as far as timing and syncopation go. There is a full spectrum of exercises to help you hone your skills, in many different styles ranging from country picking to metal. It took me a little over a year to work through the book but I decided to learn each exercise to fluency — being able to play them through for five minutes without mistakes with the aid of a metronome. Yes, learning the same exercises in different keys can be repetitive, however, it causes you to learn the fretboard and that playing in different areas of it requires you to make adjustments and learn the nuances of your instrument. This will also help aid you in transposing songs to different keys. I had practiced the exercises through an effects processor with high quality headphones to hear when I wasn’t playing chords correctly with perhaps muting strings or pulling them sharp. I found that this has helped with my ear training and that I am able to learn new songs easier. It is a worthwhile book and I have seen the improvements in my playing.
