      Pretty streight forward – If you just want to play around with it, it’s really great for that. The letter stickers don’t fit in there right and so it takes a long time trimming them down so they don’t hang over. The sound and ease of use was just fine. I’d say for beginners, it’s great.

      New Indoor hobby – I wanted a Kalimba for awhile and I saw this one. I like the African animals designs. It’s light weight and easy to carry where ever I go. The tuning is easy to do and the price was reasonable. As I am a beginner this is a great Kalimba to start with.

Only wish that mbiras, which are similar to kalimbas but have deeper tones, were available domestically as well: Only source I know that produces them on demand lives in Zimbabwe. Oh well — aside from THAT lamentation, the product is infectiously beautiful, and the delivery-time superb.

The case is also a nice quality and the extras that came with it are all a good quality. Nothing cheap about it. I purchased an additional music book which I would recommend that you also do. I wouldn’t recommend for little kids but definitely 8 and up if they’re interested in artsy/music stuff. Easy to just pick up and pluck the notes to make music of their own.
