What brand and strength to use? – If you’re barely starting out the Saxophone, you should NOT buy off brand reeds like these. Stick to a strength 1.5 Vandoren Traditional, or the 1.5 Royal by D’addario. After 6 months of playing the sax, you should upgrade to a strength 2, while still using the same brands I mentioned. After another year of using the 2, you should upgrade to 2.5. This is where you can start looking into off brand reeds like these, because your embouchure is most likely developed well enough to make these cheaper cane reeds sound good. If you choose to stick with the name brand reeds, go for the 2.5 Vandoren V12 this time instead of the traditional, or use 2.5 Royal by D’addario reed. After you upgrade to the 3 and above you’re on your own. You’re embouchure is definitely well developed enough to play any reed you like. This is also where you can start looking into jazz and synthetic reeds.

Great practice reeds! – I bought these on a lark thinking what can I loose at this price. I was surprised to find they played right out of the box with little to no adjustment using my ReedGeek. They are made of lower quality cane than the name brands but they play well enough for a practice reed. You likely won’t get 20 for 20 good reeds but the ones that are marginal you can use for building your skill at shaving and tweaking reeds. If you are serious about playing a reed instrument you will need to become proficient with managing your reeds. What better place to start practicing reed adjusting than with these.

Exactly what I ordered – Needed these for my son. Packaged well and as expected.

We’ll, they’re reeds, – I ordered these for my 11 year old son who began playing Alto Saxophone last summer. I figured a reed was a reed and tried to save some money, and I am making him finish the packs, but once these are gone we will go back to Rico which seem better quality. He doesn’t like them, but being only 11 can’t express exactly why. I’m not a woodwind player, but they do seem slightly thicker and more roughly cut than Rico reeds, and seem to mold and break faster, though that could be because of him not taking great care of things (did I mention he’s 11?). For more experienced players, these could be totally awesome! Maybe we’ll try them again in a few years.

Sax reeds – They arrive as advertised, they work like wood reeds are supposed to work. Not much, really, can be said about reeds.

Work well enough for beginners and practice – I picked these up for my beginning saxophone player, since she does go through these quite quickly (not always as careful as she could be). The price is great for that, and I loved that this came with so many at once. They, of course, aren’t the highest quality, but for her and what she does, they work well. The tones come out nicely for her level, and more importantly, I don’t feel like I’m spending tons of money each time she damages one.
